Fin & Stem is a reference site. This page describes what data we collect, why, and what your rights are.
What we collect
Aggregate pageview analytics, and any details you submit through the contact form. We don't require an account, we don't sell, rent, or share your data with third parties, and we keep collection to the minimum we need to understand what's working on the site.
Analytics
Fin & Stem uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which species and guides aquascapers find most useful. The GA4 measurement runs in 'consent mode' wherever required by local law (GDPR, POPIA, etc.) and never receives personally-identifiable information from us. You can block the analytics script at the browser level (e.g. via uBlock Origin or your browser's Do-Not-Track setting) without affecting any other part of the site.
Contact form
Form submissions go to our email, only to reply to you. We don't add you to any list automatically, and we delete inquiries 12 months after the last reply.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of any data we hold by emailing finandstem@gmail.com, we process requests within 14 days. POPIA (South Africa) and GDPR (EU) rights apply where you live.
Cookies
We don't set tracking cookies. Essential cookies (e.g. a session cookie if a future feature requires one) are disclosed here at the point of introduction.
Changes
If we materially change what we collect, we'll update the last-reviewed date at the top of this page.
